I'm Danielle, founder of Spa Circle — and someone who spent the better part of a decade in the aesthetics industry making expensive mistakes and then figuring out how to fix them.

I bought a day spa. Placed the opening orders. Nobody told me what those opening orders would actually look like in real life. Products stacked on a back bar I didn't have the clientele to move. Serums expiring before I ever used them. Minimums that had everything to do with their targets and nothing to do with my business.

The reps were genuinely lovely. But the model was what it was — get me in, keep me ordering, grow the account. My back bar was their KPI. Not once did anyone sit down with me and ask what kind of clinic I actually wanted to build, or who my best client was, or how I was going to make someone trust me and come back.

They asked me what I wanted to order. I didn't know enough yet to know that was the wrong question.

Eight years in that day spa. Most of them in the treatment room. That's what built Spa Circle — not a business plan, but a very clear understanding of what a distributor should actually do for a clinic.

Now I'm on the other side of that table. And the first thing I ask a new clinic isn't what they want to order. It's: who is your best customer and what is your specialisation?

Nobody asked me that question when I was starting out. I think about that a lot.
